What's the Story

In October of 2007 the Explore Park was discussing the closure of all trails after July 1, 2008.  The land managers were concerned about trail user safety and the liability involved with keeping the park open.

Between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2011 the Explore Park trails will stay open as long as they are adequately maintained.  This is being done on a volunteer basis with myself, Josh Gilbert as volunteer coordinator.

We are looking for individuals that are willing to volunteer to help inspect and maintain the trails.  The process and requirements are simple, but we need to follow a specific protocol.  So please contact me if you have an interest in helping out.

Directions to the Explore Park

Once on the Blue Ridge Parkway go to milepost 115.  Take the road into the Explore Park.  Once in the gate you will park in the first lot on your right.
